Edgartown Historical Tour
[ OVERVIEW ]Welcome to Edgartown, one of the most beautiful and historically significant towns in New England. Today, we'll explore more than 350 years of history, from the Island's earliest colonial settlers to its rise as one of America's richest whaling ports, and finally to the charming seaside destination you see today.
As we travel through town, you'll discover elegant captain's homes, historic churches, colonial landmarks, and the working harbor that connected this small island community to every corner of the globe. Along the way, we'll hear stories of courageous sea captains, the families who waited for them to return, remarkable figures like Frederick Douglass, and even visit locations made famous in the classic film Jaws.
Whether you're visiting the Island for the first time or returning after many years, we hope this tour helps you see Edgartown through a new lens. Not just as a beautiful coastal town, but as a place whose history helped shape New England and the United States.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident, and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. The latter will take care of itself. It always does.
